Photography Course 2017

Some class participants on a field trip during our 2016 course

Light and Motion Photography is pleased to announce that we are hosting another Photography Course in Sydney, during February and March 2017. This is designed ideally for photographers who have at least a knowledge of the basics of photography, including shooting in manual mode on a DSLR. However, everyone is welcome.

The course will focus on landscape and travel photography, with an emphasis on composition, lighting, and advanced image capture and post processing techniques. Time Lapse Photography will also be covered. We will be approaching the photography workshop differently this year, with a unique problem based approach to learning.

The course will be held at 2 George St. Epping NSW 2121, on Monday evenings 7pm to 9pm: February 27th, March 6th, 13th and 20th.

In addition, we have planned 3 field trips, with the aim to allow time on the Monday evenings following each field trip to perform image review and feedback. These are scheduled for:

1. March 5th (Sunday evening) - Sunset landscapes and Night Photography, Blue Mountains NSW.

2. March 12th (Sunday Morning) – Sunrise shoot at Bombo Headland (near Kiama) – night and seascape photography.

3. March 20th (Sunday Morning) – Sunrise shoot at Stockton Beach, NSW – sand dune and seascape photography.

Essentials for the course are:

- DSLR or mirrorless camera. Ability to shoot in full manual mode and capture in a RAW format. The camera should have a bulb mode.
- Tripod
- Cable release

Coursework documentation will be supplied.

Cost: All proceeds will be donated to the Epping Church Project which this year supports South Pacific Islands’ Missions.

More about the Project here

Our courses in 2015 and 2016 raised over $6000 for the project, and were directed to International Children’s Care in Cambodia. Below is a short video of some of the educational and health initiatives that this helped fund.

We are asking for a minimum donation of $200, although you may be moved to contribute more.

The course is strictly limited to 20 participants, after which there will be a wait list.
