2013 - Year in Review: Favourite Images

As 2013 draws to a close, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and look forward to what 2014 may bring. Over the past year we have had the good fortune to shoot at many varied locations including the volcanoes of Hawaii, the rice terraces of Yunnan, the mountains of Tibet, and Montserrat in Spain. We have also shot travel images in Portugal and France. The Singapore GP was also a highlight. Closer to home, the Blue Mountains and Port Stephens remain popular locations for us, and we discovered the many moods of Turimetta. Here, we have each selected our favourite landscape and travel image from 2013.

"Thousand Tortoise Mountain"

Alvin's favourite landscape for 2013 and taken from his trip to Yunnan and Sichuan. The location was on Laojun Mountain, Liming Scenic Area. Not only was the landscape unique, with great lighting, but the journey was just as memorable. Lead by Alister Benn and Juanli Sun, we left Liming at 0430 and walked from a base altitude of 2700m, and ascended 600m over 2.7km. We arrived at 0600 in time for a spectacular sunrise.

The unique surface of this rock has been literally termed "thousands of tortoises racing for swimming"

"A Moment of Clarity"

Andy's favourite landscape from 2013, taken at Turimetta Beach.

“The Rush to the Top”

Alvin's favourite travel image from 2013, taken at Elevador de Santa Justa, Lisbon.

The Santa Justa Elevator was commissioned in the late 1890’s and opened in 1901. It’s primary purpose was to connect the lower streets of Baixa to Carmo Square in the hills of Lisbon. Today it is the only vertical lift remaining in the city, as opposed to funiculars

"Origins"

Andy's favourite travel image of 2013, taken at Halema'uma'u Crater, Kilauea, Hawaii. A sole tree attempts to resist the inevitable.
